I started getting a loud hum, but I ignored it, assuming that something was just going wonky with the electricity in my house. I played for maybe ten minutes before the hum made me give up. I came back a little while later and it wouldn't even turn on. I let it sit for a few weeks, then I tried it again. The light would come on, but no sound would come out. I tried switching fuses, just in case, but no dice. So I took it to a repair guy, he said an IC went bad, he's had it for at least a month now, hasn't been able to find the IC.
So here's what I want to know. First, does anyone know where I can get a UPC 2388 PPC IC? I'm not sure that's the right number, but it's the one the guy gave me so I can help look for one. Second, if this sounds to you like a different sort of problem than the IC, advice? |

Hi abeamt
Welcome to the forum from Australia.
You can get original replacement spare parts directly from Roland in your country-state.
In your profile, you didn't mention which country you are from.
Good luck Regards Dr. Bob

| I'm from Texas, but I'm living in Bolivia now. I have friends in this States, though, that the part can be sent to if I can get it. |

Hi abeamt
I forgot to mention. You might want to upload a few pictures, & we'll see if we can spot something out of the ordinary.
I'm not in any way suggesting that your repairer has made a misdiagnosis, But we might be able to see something else.
If you have been lurking here for a while, you may have read, that I own a Roland Spirit 40, & I've gigged her pretty hard when i first bought her, which is now now over 10-15 years ago, it's be an incredibly reliable amp, never missed a beat. It's now my backup, & I use it most days here at home. I have her setup in the spare lounge, in case someone comes over & wants, to play a quick riff or two.
I missed out on a Spirit-10A at a local Pawn Brokers about 2 months ago. & I'm kicking myself for passing it up.
To get back onto the topic, and like I mentioned earlier, please upload some pics, we'll try to help.
Regards Dr. Bob
